Territory management

Define where each rep works so Cartoply can automatically route prospects to the right person.

How territory routing works

When a prospect books through your org's booking page, they provide their location. Cartoply checks that location against each rep's assigned territories. The first matching rep's availability is shown, and the booking is routed to them.

If the prospect's location doesn't fall within any territory, they see a message that no coverage is available in their area — no misrouted meetings.

Territory types

Cartoply supports six territory types to match how your team actually works:

  • Radius — a circular area defined by a center point and distance (in miles). Best for reps based in a city who cover the surrounding metro area.
  • ZIP codes — a list of specific ZIP codes. Best for dense urban markets where coverage needs to be precise.
  • Counties / Parishes — one or more counties. Good for rural or regional coverage where county lines are the natural boundary.
  • Cities — specific city names. Useful when reps cover multiple distinct cities rather than a contiguous region.
  • States — full US states. Best for reps who cover large geographic areas.
  • Countries — country-level coverage for international teams.

Assigning territories to reps

Territories are managed from the org dashboard by admins. Each rep can have multiple territories assigned.

  1. Open your org dashboard and click Territories in the sidebar.
  2. Select a rep from the rep list on the left.
  3. Click Add territory and choose a territory type.
  4. Configure the territory — draw a radius on the map, select ZIP codes, choose counties, etc.
  5. Name the territory and click Save. It appears on the map immediately.

Radius territories

To set up a radius territory:

  1. Select Radius as the territory type.
  2. Enter a name and set the radius in miles.
  3. Set the center point by typing an address and clicking Go, or by clicking directly on the map.
  4. The circle preview updates in real time on the map.
  5. Click Save territory.

List-based territories (ZIP, county, city, state)

  1. Select the territory type (ZIP codes, Counties, Cities, or States).
  2. Use the search box to find and add items one at a time.
  3. Added items appear as tags below the search box. Click × to remove any.
  4. Click Save territory.

Overlapping territories

Multiple reps can have overlapping territories. When a prospect's location falls in an overlap, Cartoply matches to the first rep whose territory contains the prospect's location, based on the order reps were added. To control priority, reorder reps in the members list.

Removing a territory

Click the trash icon next to any territory in the list. The territory is removed immediately and the rep will no longer receive bookings from that area.

Tips

  • Start specific — it's easier to expand a territory than to deal with misrouted bookings from one that's too broad.
  • Use the map preview — check the visual coverage before saving, especially for radius territories near state or county lines.
  • Gaps are intentional — any area not covered by a territory will not accept bookings. This prevents unqualified leads from booking.
